Darwins Theory

Darwin’s theory of natural selection is the idea of evolution it is the way animals have formed from natural selection a mutation of an animal is the way that he predicted that creatures have mutant off springs that benefit there lifestyles such as a parrot on one island has a shorter beak than the other this because of progressive mutation over millions of years have led to the parrot on the first island to have a smaller beak and on the second to have a longer beak this is the process of evolution. This is different to Lamarck’s theory of evolution as he had based his idea on the past off spring had to adapt to the environment. So he would have proposed that a horse had adapted in the Savannah to not being able to reach the leaves high up in the trees having stretched the neck would be longer and over time it would progressively turn into a giraffe. This difference between these two theories is that Lamarck suggested that a certain action during an organisms live time has caused it to change in the next while Darwin had suggested that mutations progressively over millions of years have caused animals to change.

How do organisms evolve?

Now and then

  • the excitement built up as I had approached the airport eager to see my grandmother and to have fun in this fantastic trip around Italy first my grandmother had suggested that we should go and see Punta Rossa hotel as amazing hotel near the Amalfie coast. Me and my dad went with out my grandma but  it would still be fun . We ran directly into the room. And saw a beautiful view scouring the medeteranian sea . I was eager to go jump in over the moon how fun this trip would be. We sat down had a lunch quinine . We ran down into a salt filled pool with a diving board ( my favourite). We jumped around and splashed about as a family searching the depths of the sea and seeing the wild variety of fish and sea creatures. We then came back to the hotel for lunch we had delicious food that sat in our stomach you go to sleep and  eager to start the next day. You would then take a golf cart and drive up and down the hotel premises pretending you were a formula one driver going up and down the hills enjoying the comfort of the sun hitting your head

Haig The butcher

Haig seemed like a ruthless commander many of the sources suggest that he was ruthless because of his state of mind which clearly stated that he only cared about winning the war than all of his soldiers. After countless attacks during the battle of the Somme, he had not successfully had a raid throughout the whole battle til the November rains. The soldiers that died in that war was a huge impact on our nation 200,000 people is way to much to handle.

It was not only the soldiers that thought that Haig was only focused on the war Winston Churchill in his personal memos talked about Haig not being conscious of the attacks he was making on the Germans. Haig ordered squadron after squadron to be brought into battle. The Germans artillery was very heavy and the English could not move there artillery up to the trench lines till later on in the war. Since most of the English were camped up in the middle of no mans land the English were an easy target. Haig being the butcher that he was constantly commanded the English to keep on  challenging them even though their numbers were decreasing much faster than the Germans. Haig called in for much more back up bringing New Zealand, Australia and Canada into the fight. One of the Canadian raids which were supposedly a sneak attack were decimate as the Germans got their before they had time to get into position. His mind set was very curious and it took him two years to finally defeat the Germans even though they should have won the battle before it even began.

Haigs carelessness leads me to think that he was a butcher he seemed completely contuos of his attacks but losing men did not seem to make him change his mind after at least 100,000 Brits were dead. These facts lead me to think that Haig was a butcher for his stupidness  and carelessness about all of the soldiers that died for a cause which could have easily be fixed.

notes

Attacks in verdan in 2 parts of France weakening the German army so they can take over France and wipe Britain out.700,000 French soldiers die. Haig decides to attack along the river Somme to distract the Germans from verdum to help France heal their soldiers.he was told that the Germans numbers were smaller than the English. The British suffered 420,000 60,000 on the first day 200,000 French loves were lost and 500,000 Germans.two years of war. Many casualties are lost throught the first battle of verdum slaughter plan produces thousands of people’s deaths 1st July 1916 battle of the Somme. Bombarded Germans with bombs then walk over to the trenches. Sometimes fail and cant  kill people deep underground shelters. The worse slaughter ever bye a British army in asingle day 60,000. Almost entire regiment wiped out by lunch time on the first day. Because of bombs in first . Tabk makes first apperince in battle. German call the war the bloodbath.1,738,000 shells were fired at the Germans. The British soldiers advanced across a 25-mile front. Haig started with a massive artillery run lasting 5 days.Germans had deep concrete shelters they poored out of them and started mchine gunning the english and french down it made the english slower because all of the shells in no mans land.

The Battle Of The Somme

Throughout the begging of the First World War Germany was attacking France the Germans plan was to keep on weakening the French soldiers until they had so many casualties it would overwhelm the French they then decided once they had weakened the French enough they would burst through the borders and take over Paris. They then would walk down to Callie and plan to invade England and win the war. This plan was working very well but the Germans infantries were declining as well as. Britain had an Allie with France to save France and themselves they decided that they should attack the Germans on the side of the river Somme. Haig a commanding general had the plan to bombard the Germans with shells, the idea was that they would shoot shells into the Germans trench to wipe them out. As the Brits had a larger amount of soldiers than the Germans even if the plan failed to a certain extent they could still wipe out all the Germans and win the war. The Brits and the French took part in a five day bombing of the German trenches which made Britain almost certain that the Germans would not be alive. The Brits were not fully aware of the concrete shelters that the Germans had built to protect them from bombings. The Brits advanced to the German trenches seeming relieved that the Germans had been wiped out,or so they thought(some of the British commanders were so certain of the Germans death they sent their troops out in parade formation).

After the bombing raids had been finished they advanced to there artillery stations and as the Brits approached they mowed them down with machine guns. The English lines had began to rapidly decrease because they did not expect the Germans to be waiting for them as they approached the . Haig was outraged as his plan had not worked against the Brits (Haig had commented a few days before this raid that the Brits were certain of the successes of the bombing raid).  As the days progressed the Germans had also summoned their artillery units for the raid which made an even bigger dent on the English forces. As soon as the German artillery had finished there artillery attacks on the first day the Brits had lost the biggest amount of soldiers in one day which summed up to around 60,000.As Haig thought that it would be an amazing idea to let the units carry on with there attacks he set many more units to there deaths. The soldiers were infiltrated with Haig,s decision because they were pretty certain it would lead to death (which it did). As the Brits continued to approach they were harmed by many of their shells approaching them as the had fallen short. As the weeks passed by the deaths had in creased by the thousands because Haig had not stopped the infantries poring in for the attacks. The allies had come from New Zealand and Australia the Australians had lost many of there men on the first day b ut the numbers increased to a sum of 25,000 deaths at this one battle. The Kiwis had introduced the first ever tank into battle this did not seem to be the savoir of the Brits as they had hoped the Kiwis had still lost 6,000 of there men even though they had a tank. As more allies came ion the attacks seemed to be useless and wasting many of there lives. All of the allies had seemed to have lost massive amounts of men. The Brits had lost 420,000 and the French had lost 200,000 as well as the Germans had lost 236,000. A great loss on both sides. The Germans named this battle deblutbad which meant bloodbath in German.  The war was one of the worst in English history and will never be forgotten

I fear too early, for my mind misgives
Some consequence yet hanging in the stars
Shall bitterly begin his fearful date
With this night’s revels, and expire the term
Of a despised life closed in my breast
By some vile forfeit of untimely death
But he that hath the steerage of my course,
Direct my sail. On, lusty gentlemen

Shakespeare has a variety of language text to attract his readers one of these language features are metaphors he uses it when he said ”

But he that hath the steerage of my course,Direct my sail”
Shakespeares use of the semantic field throughout all of his plays seems to be very effective he uses it in Romeo and Juliet especially an example of this is but he the hath the steerage of my course,Direct my sail he uses an example of God to take over his course and let everything fall into place he uses language features such as a metaphor comparing the way his life to a boat

figure it out

I fear too early, for my mind misgives Some consequence yet hanging in the stars Shall bitterly begin his fearful date With this night’s revels, and expire the term of a despised life closed in my breast By some vile forfeit of untimely death. But he that hath the steerage of my course, Direct my sail. On, lusty gentlemen.

I fear that we may get there to early for my mind thinks that this party will not end well some thing that could be the end of me. God may lead me he can direct me wherever it may be. Let us go on.
