“all teens are lazy monsters” disagree with this statement

Claiming that teens are lazy monsters is very biased because it is generalising all teens. Teens may be lazy and/or get involved in crime, but this does not mean they all do. It is not right that lots of teens this day and age are disliked because what people have heard about them (mostly from the media) without understanding who each individual actually is.  Is it right to judge someone without even knowing them?

Teens may be called lazy but can they really help it? If hormone levels increase during puberty, and if melatonin is a hormone that helps us fall asleep, then teens need to sleep longer. Additionally, if teen’s melatonin kicks in at one in the morning while it is eleven in the evening for adults, they will naturally want to go to sleep later.  So are teens actually lazy or are they just growing up and still expected to do the same work and at the same time as adults?

If all teens are lazy then how is it that they are able to wake up early for school and keep up with their school work? Most teens not only go to school but are also able to work for longer periods of time than many adults. Teens have to work for long periods of time without taking breaks while adults can take numerous  breaks such as; long lunch breaks, personal emails, chat with their colleagues. So if teens got more breaks it could easily give them time to recuperate from being tired, couldn’t it? If adults are able to take breaks throughout the day and if teens could take as many breaks they would be able to do their work more efficiently and not be considered lazy.

Additionally, when teens play online games they get called lazy while when adults play computer games nothing is said about it. So why should teens be judged differently to adults? If this is right doesn’t this means adults are given a larger amount of freedom than teenagers?

In our society we have many teens that may be considered lazy but they are generally good as they go to work out at the gym, help at home and are given hard work in school. Teens try their best but get little recognition for what they do, but in turn adults are a lot more recognised for their work. If teens try just as hard as adults shouldn’t they get the same recognition?

So if all teens are not actually lazy are all teens then monsters? The media tells us that many teens may be considered monsters because they have been seen dealing with drugs or involved in crimes. This does not seem fair because you cannot take one story from the media and assume all teens are the same! If we were to consider that all teens are monsters would it not be extremely wrong as we should not judge a book by its cover, should we?

We hear from the media that many teens have been involved in crime, drug dealing, bullying, but why does this happen?  Teens may seem hard on the outside but they are really soft on the inside. Teens are more emotionally challenged than adults because they struggle with family issues and hormonal changes which can lead to anger. As teens grow their hormone levels are very high this makes them take on more challenges, however teens are more vulnerable than adults and this is when they can be involved in violence.  Teens often get involved in violence because they are bored. Teens like to feel important and if you give teens something exciting to do they will feel useful. Lots of teens have things to do because they know that they can do something with their lives, but for some teens this may seem unclear and this is when they may get involved in crime.

People need to grow up and learn they may make mistakes. To call teen’s monsters is not right because people must have been very similar to them when they were younger, and who are they to judge teens on how they act as they could have been just as bad. If adults were all teens at one point and slept a lot should we not be calling them lazy? If adults were all once young and because they got bored they did bad things should we not be calling them monsters?

In conclusion, yes some teens may be lazy but this does not mean they all are. How can people generalize all teens as some work just as hard as adults while others can’t help but be lazy?  Hence some teens are lazy but the majority aren’t. The media is not the most reliable source of information and one story can cause havoc for all teens. Yes some may be seen as bad or may be involved with crime or drugs but this is not the majority. We can always give them more activities to get involved with. . This is why I think this statement is false.
